Whew!

I went to see Body Worlds yesterday. It was great, really fascination, original and gruesome and beautiful at the same time. I loved it. I almost didn't make it. Here's what happened. I bought tickets online for me and my sister and the Museum website can be tricky to buy tickets, when you reload it give you different days and times when you come back to it. Ugh. Well, I got an email telling me that this was the last 3 days in Chicago, so I had to act fast. (I know, been here 4 months and now I'm rushing), anyway, I go through the email link and buy tickets at work. They made it 24 hours here since there was such high demand. So, if you wanted to see it at 3:30 a.m., you were more than welcome.

I buy tickets thinking it was for 12:15 p.m. in the afternoon for Sat. but I didn't see or notice the am pm thing and ended up with 12:15 AM. I was a bit freaked out. I'm like, "Shit, is for tonight at midnight! WTF?" So, basically I was so worried that we wouldn't get in and that'd be $36 down the drain, plus I really wanted to see it.

So my sister decides we should just go really early when it wouldn't be crowded and ask them if we can go in since we missed our time and accidently got the wrong time on the tickets. So, we head out around 6:00 a.m., and since the museum bus doesn't run that early, we take another way and went in the wrong direction and had to sort of find our way, asking bus drivers along the route.

We get on a bus and the bus driver is really friendly, we thought we had to get off and transfer, but he said he went right pass the museum and we can just walk right over to it! Yea! So, we get there around 7:30 in the morning, and the lady checking out tickets told us that it was okay, as long as or time was AFTER and not BEFORE there shouldn't be a problem.

Whew! I was so happy. We actually had to go past 4 our 5 people to get to the actually exhibit and show our tickets. When the girl scanned them they let of a siren, and the screen showed invalid, but then she typed in our code and they became valid. So, I SOOOOOO happy we got in and things turned out okay. Next time, I'm gonna be hella careful ordering online.

Man, is it time for Monday already?
I had a very nice weekend, even though it still hasn't prepared me for the week. I hate the weeks, only the weekends. But don't we all? I went to see Grindhouse Saturday and it was fucking awesome! Funny, gory and violent. So you know it was good. "Death Proof" was actually better than "Planet Terror" But "Planet Terror" was funnier, but don't get me wrong, I laughed like hell on "Death Proof" too. I TOTALLY recommend!

Me and my sister were one of four people in the theater, we stretched out, had a great time and ate like horses. This is our list of Concessions Stand items: Two large drinks (fruit punch; pink lemonade), one large popcorn, cheese fries and a nachos bell grande (chips, cheese, salsa, chilli, and sour cream) all this was shared AND we got a refill on the pops and popcorn. Yes, I'm actually still full from all that food. LOL

In other news, I planning a trip to Las Vegas. I don't know when, but I have totally been looking into it. It's a trip I've been planning for a couple of years and never took. I've been buying a lot of other stuff, but now I'd like to put some money into this trip and actually go. One of these days I hope to blog from Vegas.

Have a great week people. I'm gonna try like hell myself.

A bag of everything
I have a dabble of everything today. Not that this tidbit is interesting, but I was eating trialmix on the train today and I was totally spilling it all over, dropping M & M's and peanuts all over the floor. Er, SORRY TRAIN CLEAN UP CREW!

In the Chicago Tribune there is a small magazine that annually prints "What People Earn" and they post the salaries of people from celebrities, sports athletes and the regular Joe. Some were really low, like a greeting card writer was "5, 800. Then there was a little blurb about leaving your job and changing your life and career and it's never too late and that you can still actually do what you want to do.

I'd love to be a Veterinarian. Or at the very least working with animals in some capacity. I truly doutb 4 years of Veterinarian school is in the cards, that just seems unrealistic, but I was thinking about that article and that looking into that, even if I have to go back for some sort of training, is what I'd like to do. I certainly don't want to do what I'm doing forever.

I've been watching "The Search for the Next Pussycat Doll" and while its' somewhat entertaining, it's a bit too serious. Some of the girls were all 'This was my dream!" Your dream was to be a Pussycat doll? And I can't stand that choreographer. Ugh, she's fugly and I think she's too old for her hair and outfits. I don't have a picture, I couldn't find one. I just don't like her. As for that show, it's stupid to just pick one Doll. Why not just pick five to work in Vegas? What's the point in picking one to be with the group? Besides, I'd rather work in Vegas, that seems more fun that the Pop music Dolls. I think this group is pretty decent, so they need to pick more than one.

Lollopaloza and my FINAL, FINAL thought on Imus

I want to go to Lolloploza. Pearl Jam is headlining, and I LOVE that bad. I don't know if I'm going to go, I don't have anyone to go with, but I'd really love to see them play live. I'm not a frequent concert goer, I can't handle some of the crowds, but I'd like to see them. I think they are such a great band, and I love Eddie Vedder. He, like Bono, to seem like rock stars who actually care about the music and isn't caught up in all the glam and glitz and groupies. They don't make a trillion videos just to prance and preen. Pearl Jam especially, who once rallied about concert ticket prices not being affordable for the fans who actually go to the shows. Pearl Jam rocks!

************

Ahhhh, Final thoughts on Imus. Well, I don't hate the guy, despite why some of my ravings sounded like. Like I said, I'd never heard of him before this. I have had the chance to hear many comments, and even talk to my friends and family personally and hear what they had to say. I appreciated all the comments, even if some got me boiling mad.

I've heard that some of the Rutgers girls were really distraught and someone said they'd be "scarred for life" Okay, that's a little too far. I mean, please. Not for life, but for the moment I'd be angry.

Basically, I wish I could wave my magic wand and get people to understand that even with Free Speech you still have to be held accountable for what you say and face consequences, if there are any. And that while what they say may not bother you, it may bother someone else and everything can't be poo-poo'd away under the rug. Not everything can go in the "get over it" catagory.

That being said, I think Imus, unfortunetly, let himself get dragged into a mess by the other newscaster in the room with him, who started all this. Maybe they were trying to be funny, but the thing was that what they were talking about targeted not the entire team, but only the black girls. The 'ho's' comment was bad enough, but that at least enveloped all the girls, but then the conversation started to segregate and that's when things got ugly.

I don't think he should have been fired, I never said that. But I think he should have disappeared for a while until things died down. The advertising dollars made the decision for him, I think. And I also don't agree with a forced apology, who wants a forced apology? After two days if he didn't apologize, then he wasn't really sorry.

Oh well, soon we'll be going "Remember what Imus said?" LOL. Until the next celebrity/radio jock says something.

Charge it, please and the last of Imus
Has anyone ever ordered a free credit report? I keep meaning too, but haven't yet. Plus, they're not really free. You have to enter into trial memberships of other things that I hate doing because then when you don't cancel, it's your ass you have to pay. Anyway just wondering. And if you haven't noticed, then yes, I really have nothing to blog about.

But, what I'd like to add is another comment about Don Imus, then I'm done. I've been around the internet, listening to plenty of people's comments, from bloggers, to actors, to newscasters to comedians on what happened, and I have agreed with some, but severely disagreed with others.

I know we all have free will, and it is GOOD that we can make our own choices, comments; have our own thoughts. But I read some pretty disturbing comments, that actually didn't surprise me. I read a comment by one girl who really seems to raise her White flag. Basically, she seemed upset that we can't just call each other what we want and stop whining already. The Majority thinks like that, not the minority.

Now, I'm not racist. But, being a minority, it's hard not to see the meaning behind comments others make regarding race when they AREN'T a minority. If you have never been discriminated against it's hard for you to really understand. I'm not saying that anyone white has never had anything bad done to them, now, don't get me wrong.

What I'm saying is that I read plenty of comments from, I know were ALL whites, save 2 or 3 and they just can't believe what the all the fuss is about with his "nappy-headed ho's" comment, and that we should get over it, and forget it and everyone should stop being sensitive and stop playing the race card and whatnot.

That's fine if it wasn't directed at you. I mean, let's face it, the face of America is white and if you're white, then you pretty much do alright, just for that fact alone--not all the time, but white males especially get the advantage.

But when people go "Oh, he said 'Nigger' get over it!" or "So what she called her a Mexican Jumping bean, it's not gonna kill her!" I get upset because those comments should not be said at all, and they certainly should be reserved for certain races to say.

Aaaaaaand that's where other bitchy comments come in, because then people want to complain about the fact that certain people get to say stuff and get away with it and others can't.

If you don't understand the difference between a white man calling a black man a nigger and a black man calling him a nigger, then I can't help you.

Also, the defense that "if they say it, then why can't we all say it" doesn't work either. Because not all black people want to be called that either, and other people should take that into effect as well. Just because you watch some rap videos and hear that shit shouldn't make you go, 'hmm, I guess I'll call them all nigga's and ho's to their faces now. That's what the videos's say!" No, nada, and uh-uh.

I think people should have more common sense and not try and lump everything under one umbrella. I, myself, hate when I see other black people act or say things with other races around because I think, 'damn, I can only imagine what they think of all black people now.'

Well, I guess I'll be down to one reader now. LOL, oh well. But I still enjoy the blogs of all my Scooby Gang to my left, every one, and I'll still visit, because this is a free America, and we should all be able to understand why some people get upset and why others don't. At least, I hope we can.

Just stay away from Crystal Lake and you'll be fine
BWWWWAHHHAHHA! Happy Friday the 13th people! Er..maybe I shouldn't be saying it like it's Christmas or something. I always think it's cool when we land on a Friday the 13th, after 54 of those movies (who's counting?) it's hard not to think of that on any Friday the 13th. Those movies made us creep out on this day.

I'd like to not consider myself a very superstitious person, but I do feel funny if I walk under a ladder or break a mirror. Surprisingly, I don't think that about black cats, or anything else superstitious. I guess I'm picky in my hexes or something.

I was going to post 13th pet peeves today in honor of Friday the 13th, but I'm so tired and lazy I think I'll do that another day. There really is no bad day to list pet peeves. LOL

What I'll mention now is that Damn Don Imus and his asshole self. If most of my readers don't know, I'm black, which, some of you probably couldn't guess from my love of Apolo, Buffy, Angel and most rock music. Anyway, I certainly took offense. The gist of it is that he called the lady basketball players from Rutgers "Nappy Headed-Ho's" after they lost the Championship.

I think one my biggest complaints is that, sadly, had the stations not been in line to loose thousands of advertising dollars, he'd still be on the air with his slap on the wrist suspension, because anything racial is still very much acceptable as long as they can get away with it and it won't hurt anyone financially.

Do you think they wanted to pull him when they make so much money off him? Hell no.

At any rate, I don't think it's acceptable for any non-minority to call someone "nappy" because that is a word that is at least 99% black referenced and used among blacks with each other. It's not for a white man, of all things, to use freely. But I digress.

One last thing. I was so sick Thursday I went home early. I was sitting at my desk and I got up and literally had to run to the bathroom. I was throwing up as I ran, with both hand over my mouth. I'm glad no one saw me, it would have been embarrasing. I think it was some bug or something. Ugh. I'm so glad today is Friday, even if it is Friday the 13th.

Well, that's my post today. It is now 11:09pm and I think I'm going watch "Lost" on Netflix or one of my Slider's DVD's . Yes, I finally bought Sliders on DVD, the first and second seasons. $24.99 down from, like, $60 it was when it first came out. Can't beat that!

If I don't see you, have a great weekend!!

I'd like a comedy please
My sister and I have been getting a lot of horror movies through my beloved Netflix We love horror, yes we do. However, even I can take so much. After a weekend of demented, disgusted and sickening horror, I'm in need of an Arthur cartoon or a nice romantic comedy or something. I need to go back and watch "Dirty Dancing."

The last movies we looked at, besides Saw 3 which is in its own catagory of gross, was Masters of Horror. This series is a bunch of well known and respected horror directors made movies (about 1 hour each) and they made a series out of them. Since I don't have Showtime, I had to Netflix this and we've seen about 5 so far. Some were cool, some were very good and some were pretty boring.

There is one called "Imprint" that has the most heinous torture scene imaginable. Really. I can't imagine doing that to my worse enemy. Ugh! Horrible! It was the torture that was so gruesome that I was thinking about it today. It's by a Japanese director that seems to like horrific torture scenes. I've seen a couple of his other movies. Not for the squeemish.

In Apolo news. I saw my cutie tonight on DWTS and he was really good. A lot better than some of the stiff hacks on there. I mean, Clyde and Billie Ray Cyrus? Get to steppin'! If you're so inclined to vote for anyone, you know who I want you to vote for. I had to register at abc.com to vote. When I called they told me voting in my time zone was closed. (!!!!) and 'grrrr' but registration was merely a password and email and I could vote right away. There are 9 votes per email address and I think it's the same by phone.

Voting by phone: 1-800-868-3411 for "Apolo and Julianne"

Vote for Apolo and Julianne also online!

I did my part, will you? LOL. Kidding. I'm just teasing. Vote if you want, but keep me in mind if you do. *hint, hint*

Oh, does anyone here watch The Soprano's? I thought it was a pretty low key episode, (the quite before the storm) with the exception of the Monopoly fight. Well done by the way, a nice build up to such a knock down fight. If anyone watches let me know, then I will gab more on my blog. I won't say anymore in this post.

Ahh, work tommorow. I must go to bed. I'm nothing without my sleep. I hope everyone had a nice Easter! Have a nice Tuesday.

Happy Easter!

I don't know what you guys are doing this weekend, but I plan on sleeping. LOL. Seriously, I haven't gotten nearly enough sleep this week. They're letting us out of prison early (prison=work). We can leave at 1pm tommorow for Good Friday, thank God!

I'm going to run out of the building screaming. I don't have much to say, actually, I'm too tired to blog about anything anyway. I don't know if I'll drag myself back here over the weekend, so I'm telling you know to have a nice weekend and a nice Easter. Monday will be here soon enough, enjoy yourselves! I'm gonna try like hell.

In the meantime, here's some links I have for you (Too funny) from Acceptable TV:

Mr. Sprinkles 2

Need a Soprano fix? on youtube there's a video that reminds you who go whacked, who got pissed, who got doublecrossed and just who's who. Should prove useful for Soprano's fans.
